I'm about to embark on the life (or lack thereof) of a veterinary medicine student... I'm not sure what to expect! so live and learn with me...

Wow, I can't believe it's been a month since I last posted. What have I been doing lately? I did take a trip to Vegas (incredibly fun, lost a little money gambling but I got a little tanner). I've also been hanging out with some friends before I leave town. And I tried to finish up my project at work, but it just wasn't going to happen. So now I'm officially done at the lab and I don't have to worry about anything anymore (until they call me with questions). What a load off my shoulders!

Now I'm just hanging out at home, shopping, packing, planning, and playng with my new tablet PC. Tablets are really advanced, they're great at handwriting recognition (if you want to convert your handwriting to text) but you can also just leave your notes in writing. It's still faster for me to type, but when you want to draw arrows or pictures, it's not so convenient. School will probably be more fun with all my notes on the tablet, but I have to remember to back it up often. Like every night. A lot of clinics and hospitals (people hospitals, not just animal hospitals) are starting to move to the wireless, paperless systems, so I suppose it's an advantage for me to already be using the tablet. But who am I kidding. I just like new toys.

Intelligent me forgot that I had to turn in the financial aid form and accept the unsubsidized loans. I also waited until the last minute to track down my vaccination records (which my doctor has since lost) and find suitable substitutes to submit to the school. I never did get that rabies vaccination (apparently not very many hospitals carry it, no doctors have it, and insurance doesn't really like to cover it unless you have been bitten). I also need to order my textbooks. Talk about unorganized! This is why my condo needs to be in order before classes start. I'm just not a very together person.

I officially move in 8 days! Before I leave, there are so many people for me to see, and so much STUFF that I have scattered around my parents' house. And moving away from all my friends and family is a little scary. I do have to come back right before orientation for a friend's wedding, and then again 4 weeks later for another wedding. So I already have a bunch of driving back and forth to do. And there is a lot for me to get ready at my condo... need to sign up for cable, internet, hang pictures, move in a desk, and unpack. I mean, this is my home for the next 4 years, so I want to make it nice! I guess the next 2 weeks will be really hectic, not to mention I'm going to try to get all the sleep I can. But this weekend is for playing... 2 Dave Matthews concerts, with Guster opening to boot. It should be a good time!
