I'm about to embark on the life (or lack thereof) of a veterinary medicine student... I'm not sure what to expect! so live and learn with me...
I have a condo! My dad and I went down to check out the town and took a whirlwind tour of all the available condos within a 10-15 minute drive of the vet school. Because we were only down there for a day, we pretty much disregarded any "old" construction (older than a few years). No time for inspections and the like. There was a lot of new construction out west, so we focused on that, and ended up with a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 1 car garage place on the 2nd floor with a nice balcony and a pool/clubhouse (to be built) right behind. Sweet. It's about a 12 minute drive to school every day, and there's a nice grocery store on my way home. That's key, especially because I'll need to bring my lunch every day.

As soon as we close on the place, I'm moving all my furniture in. My dad's going to help with putting up blinds on the windows and hanging pictures, installing shelves, and all the other little things that require power tools. The layout is a little strange, because you walk upstairs and right in to the dining room area, which is essentially one big room with the living room and fireplace on the far wall. The "coat closet" is about halfway down, in the middle of this big room. The kitchen has a counter/bar that divides it from the dining area, and the patio is adjacent to the kitchen and living room area. See what I mean by strange?

To separate the couch(es), TV, and fireplace, I was thinking about open air bookshelves that look pretty from both sides. I love the arc bookshelves from Crate&Barrel, but 3 of those would cost almost $400, so that's not going to be practical. I should work out a budget, but I don't want to depress myself with how poor I am, so I keep putting it off. Ah well... plenty of time, and I love to plan!
